Alfred adler
Alfred Adler was born in Vienna, Austria on February 7, 1870. Due to the fact Alfred had rickets as a child. This made it so he couldn't walk until he was four. Since he had these difficulties as a child, he wanted to be a physician. He went to the University of Vienna and got a medical degree. He was a general practitioner, until his interests changed towards psychiatry. He ended up friends with Sigmund Freud and attended his psychoanalytic discussion group. He died on May 28, 1937.
Adler's biggest theory is his one about birth order. He was the first person to suggest that birth order influences personality. Adler believed that it can leave an impression on a person's life style. He also thought it changes the way we deal with friendships, love, and work situations. Other factors that should be considered is the amount of years between siblings, the amount of children a family has, and the circumstances of the parents over time. Adler's research influenced other psychologist like Maslow and Carl Rogers. His ideas and concepts are called Adlerian psychology.
